Aburo Screening on the International Day of the Boy Child

16 May @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Debra's Palace Initiative and Filmone Entertainment are hosting an exclusive event for 40 boys in Lagos, featuring a screening of Aburo

On International Day of the Boy Child 2024, Debra’s Palace, in collaboration with Filmone Studios, hosted a special screening of the powerful film “Aburo” for over 40 boys from public secondary schools in Lagos. This moving cinematic portrayal resonates deeply with the struggles and experiences of the average Nigerian boy child, striking a chord with all in attendance.

“Aburo” masterfully depicts the resilience, determination, and pursuit of dreams that define the journeys of so many young men in our society. Through its compelling narrative and authentic character depictions, the film shines a light on the challenges faced by boys navigating the complexities of life in Nigeria. This screening provided a transformative opportunity for the invited students to engage directly with the film’s stars, Efa Iwara and Prince Buchi, as well as the director and producers, fostering empathy, understanding, and empowerment.

The International Day of the Boy Child is a crucial moment to celebrate the triumphs and address the unique challenges confronting boys worldwide. By sharing “Aburo” and facilitating this enriching dialogue, Debra’s Palace and Filmone Studios have made an invaluable contribution to this important global observance. This screening stands as a testament to the power of storytelling to inspire, educate, and uplift the next generation of young men.
